Reverend Orian A. Flournoy, a native of Micanopy, Florida, was ordained in March 1989 in the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church Omaha, Nebraska, where he began his ministry in 1986. He has served as Pastor, Assistant Pastor, Associate Minister, Youth Director, Sunday School Teacher and Usher as well as other areas in several churches while serving in the United States Air Force from 1975 to 1996. He was called to the pastorate of True Spirit Baptist Church in May 2001.
Reverend Flournoy has had the pleasure of serving as the Spiritual leader of the Colorado Springs Chapter of "The Women of Purpose,” was a member of the La Junta Ministerial Association, President of the Junior Layman, New Era State Convention of Nebraska, the GMWA Colorado Springs Chapter Chaplain, the Military Affairs Committee Chairperson for the local branch chapter of the NAACP as well served on the Community Advisory Board for Senator Lam-born. He is a life member of the NAACP, serving as 3rd vice president and a member of the Southern Colorado Ministerial Union, serving as vice president.
His education includes two Associate Degrees, a B.S. in Computer Information System Management and a Masters in Biblical Counseling. He served 21 years in the Air Force, retiring as a Master Sergeant. Reverend Flournoy has been married to the former Mittie Mae Bob since April 20, 1974. They have three children: Luflossia, Orian Jr. (Markeeta), and Elizabeth (Phil) and seven grandchildren (Keea, Brianna Beaulah-Joyce, Adrian Otis-Bob, Nyja Aaona, Isaiah, Orian III and Sarai). His parents are Mrs. Luella Flournoy and Mr. Otis Flournoy (both deceased). He is the sixth of eight children, four boys and four girls, who are very close and supportive of each other.
One of Reverend Flournoy favorite scriptures is Philippians 4:4-5, "Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice! Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand."
